Its one thing to pack plastics into bottles. It is another to solve pollution. You simply cannot solve a problem with the same consciousness that generated it– no matter how much plastics you put into bottles. Fundamentally its spiritual.
So, how to make the shift?
I am excited to be in Manila this week. I was invited by the National Anglican Church to present the concept of Ecobricks. Of course, it goes much deeper than just presenting how to pack plastics. That would be why I am so excited to be here with seminarians and priests and other leaders. We can get spiritual.
There is one sure way to shift consciousness: meditation. To me that leads naturally prayer and visioning. But, how to get thousands of people to meditate and tap their soul’s imagination?
Today we did it. Enter, Vision Ecobricks. We took a moment of silence to remember the most beautiful place we have ever been and envision, pray, for our communities to transform into this. We all took an empty Coke bottle and wrote our prayer and vision for the environment of our communities upon it. Everyone took their bottle home and will be steadily packing (i.e. Meditatively) to make their ecobrick. With each plastic packed our prayers will move ever closer to manifestation. With hundreds in meditative action, I feel a powerful shift in consciousness unleashed.
Tomorrow, we visit the humble communities in the city to learn about their waste disposal and the ecobrick’s role there.
Here is Farida’s prayer enscribed on the bottle in the photo:
“I pray that my children and grand children will experience the same beautiful nature that I have.”
