I am preparing for an epic journey. My creativity is thus turning to my new home– my bike. This means some exciting new designs are in the works.
Today, I am collaborating with Gao’ongen, a rattan weaver here in the village of Sagada. We are working with the spectacularly practical, organic and simple ancestral backpack design of the Igorots– the Sangie. However, we are making a few modifications so that it can latch securely onto my bamboo bike as a pannier. Them, to latch off and still serve as a backpack. We are also integrating a solar panel onto the side. The pannier will use my CCB (i.e. Coke Circuit Board– heh, thats an inside joke for electrical engineers who typically refer to Printed Circuit Boards as PCBs!) to power a rear bike light.
