When you plug into the wall– where does your power come from exactly?  What are the effects of our plugging in?  Massive nuclear, coal, hydro and other typical power sources have pretty massive effects on the environment that we dont see when we casually plug in.

What if we all had a device that generated all the power that we need?  Well, that would be pretty awesome!  The term ‘personal energy device’ recently hit.  Perhaps one day this term and concept will be perfectly normal as we all take charge of our own power.

I’ve been working hard on this vision.  My phone is currently plugged into my PED as I write this.  It works, however, it is still so basic!  A massive window of opportunity now lies ahead of 630$ away to be precise.  The development of a custom circuit board that will enable our OpenCharger PED to make a dramatic leap forward!  I’ve reopened the OpenCharger Kickstarter to make it happen.  There are nine OpenChargers left.

Here’s what the new circuit will enable:

– A circuit board that fits seamless, gluelessly and securely into the neck of a coke bottle.
–  Connections ports are all screw-down.  Assembly thus requires no toxic soldering!
–  My current charger powers out at 300-500 milliamps.  The new board will power out at over 1000mA.  This will enable charging of tablets and iphones.
–  The board will feature a Russell desigbed, low power consumption, rainbow, charge indicator!
-The board will enable AC charging from crstals!  This is called piezoelectric energy.  Everytime a vibration hits the crystal a charge is made and our board will catch it!
–  Wind and hydro potential!  The AC port will also enable the connection of a rotary motor or dynamo.  I havent figured out how this will work yet, but by enabling the board ports and maker imagination, these will now be possibilities!

I will need to raise 230$ for the remainder of the downpayment this week  (Ive already sent the first 200$).  Then in another week or two I pay the remaining 430$.

Investors and pledges most welcome!  www.opencharger.org
