Wow.  I headed down across the river with some friends yesterday and was blown away by what my students had done.

I’ve been training the local out-of-school youth how to make use of broken tiles and other trash and turn them into mandalic mosaics.  Its pretty easy really and the result can be stunning.  You might have seen some of my earlier posts on our mandalic creations.  But, I really wasn’t expecting them to go off and make a surprise mandala!

I had heared a rumour that they had been collecting bottle caps for the last few weeks.  I didn’t know why.  This is why!  They put together this amazing mandala tile mandala from all sorts of bottle caps, broken tiles and best of all, used lighters (there’s no way to recycle the crappy plastic lighters here).  They know how I sign my paintings with an ®.  As a remembrance for our work together they put an R in the centre and dedicated it to me.

Wow.  Thank you guys!  What an honour.
