Yesterday, we began turning the ugliest corner of Lubas Elementary into a beautiful giant python park!  Literally hundreds of students and parents coalesced in digging the jagged and rocky area, preparing clay, mixing cement, laying bottles, and sculpting the giant snake.   The snake will be made from about 1500 ecobricks– almost a ton of packed plastics that would otherwise end up in the ecosystem!  The students worked hard last year to make hundreds of bricks and now they are seriously inspired to make more so we can finish their playground.  I had to leave yesterday, but now a dozen parents and teachers were trained on how to lay the ecobricks.  I am super excited to return in two weeks and see the progeess! Only two days ago, the snake was but a sketch in my notebook.
