Hurray!  After three months of work our growing coalition of trash-warrior-weaving-mothers have completed our order for a FairTrade store in Germany.  The order is comprised of 20 Chocowen clutches, 20 Gilbraltor wallets and 10 purses.  The ladies and I have managed to ramp up quality even higher this time– our designs are really maturing now.  The latest bags (I’ll post some closeups later) include liners made from recylced silk-neck-tie, zipper handles made from magazines, and straps made from recycled jeans.

We also have been experimenting with adding inner tags to our bags.  This is an important step in our product development.  Using a locally produced rice/abbaca paper all our bags are now tagged with our Trashure T and our URL.

A selection of the beautiful Trashure products the Sabangan mothers have finished. A big thanks to Bianca for compiling the photo– at the top is her proudly acquired new clutch by Ate Chacowen (the weaver who’s amazing work we’ve named the design after).
